Job summary

Expel is seeking a People Operations professional to own the end-to-end employee lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding, including benefits, leave, HRIS, and compliance. You’ll automate manual tasks, reduce queue volume, and partner with Finance and IT to deliver a streamlined employee experience.

You will manage benefits, leave, and compliance with an emphasis on self-service and process improvement, while supporting employees with sensitive situations and maintaining data integrity.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years in people operations at a senior individual-contributor level.
• Experience administering an HRIS (Workday, Rippling, or similar) - not just using one, running one.
• Benefits administration across medical, dental, vision, FSA, and COBRA.
• Leave administration experience (FMLA, short-and-long-term disability, parental leave).
• Familiarity with US compliance reporting (ACA, EEO-1, Medicare Part D, PCORI) and audit support such as SOC 2.
• Experience with HR ticketing and workflow tools (Zendesk or similar), and a track record of automating manual processes.

Responsibilities

• Own the employee lifecycle from onboarding through offboarding with a compliant, thoughtful experience.
• Run onboarding with IT coordination to ensure access on day one.
• Manage offboarding, including exit interviews and departures.
• Administer Expel's benefits programs and open enrollment processes.
• Lead leave programs and ensure clear, well-documented policies.
• Lead HRIS administration to enable smooth experiences and audit-ready data.
• Own compliance reporting (ACA, EEO-1, SOC 2, Medicare Part D).
• Automate repetitive tasks to create self-service for employees and managers.
• Provide managers with templates and guidance to handle routine people processes.
• Support employees by fielding requests and reducing volume through self-service.
