Job summary

Medical Health Associates (MHA) is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Coder to support its network of outpatient pediatric physician offices. This flexible position is available on a full-time or part-time basis and offers the opportunity to work primarily remotely after completing in-office training.

Training will take place in the office, with remote work possible a minimum of four hours per week in the office.

Qualifications

Current medical coding certification (CPC, CCS-P or equivalent) is required.
Minimum of two years of medical coding experience in a physician office or medical practice.
Pediatric coding experience is preferred; knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and payer guidelines is required.

Responsibilities

Review provider documentation and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient pediatric services.
Ensure coding complies with payer guidelines, federal regulations, and organizational policies.
Identify and resolve coding discrepancies by collaborating with providers and clinical staff.
Review claims for coding accuracy prior to submission.
Assist with denial management and coding-related appeals as needed.
Stay current with coding updates, payer requirements, and regulatory changes.
Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
