Charter Impact is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage payroll for our nonprofit clients. You will train client staff, enter hires and changes, and ensure accurate payroll processing across states. The role includes retirement reporting and reconciling deductions, with occasional on-site work for trainings.

This remote-first position supports clients nationwide, with on-site as needed and collaboration with a small finance team to maintain compliance and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Three years of payroll processing experience preferred.
• Experience with quarterly payroll tax returns is a plus.
• Proficient in payroll software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Train client staff on payroll processes and procedures.
• Enter new hires and changes; review payroll reports for accuracy.
• Prepare retirement reports and handle related payments.
• Reconcile payroll-related liability accounts with finance.
• Create and distribute payroll calendars and reminders.
