Job summary

Arbor Education is seeking a dedicated Payroll Officer to join our team. You will play a key role in removing the administrative burden of payroll and pension management for customers primarily in the education sector.

The role is permanent, 37.5 hours per week, with remote work available in the UK. Your day-to-day will cover end-to-end payroll for a portfolio of clients, ensuring timely, accurate payments, updating pay scales and pension rates, calculating statutory payments, and reporting to

Qualifications

• Degree level education or payroll qualification.
• Experience in payroll processing; education sector experience a bonus.
• Solid understanding of HMRC requirements including Tax, NI and deductions.
• Experience with Auto Enrolment pension schemes.
• Proficient in Google Suite and able to analyse data.
• Proactive use of AI to enhance work.
• High attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure.
• Desirable knowledge of LGPS or TPS.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of customers’ monthly payroll operations end-to-end.
• Ensure staff are paid correctly and by deadlines.
• Update payroll system with current pay scales, pension rates, NI rates and tax thresholds.
• Calculate pay adjustments, including holiday pay for leavers and statutory payments.
• Ensure accurate payments and reporting to HMRC and other stakeholders.
• Maintain GDPR and ISO27001 data protection compliance.
