Job summary

Global Village Academy Collaborative seeks an Accountant – Payroll Specialist to manage monthly payroll and support accounting tasks for its Denver metro schools. Reporting to the Controller, you’ll ensure accurate payroll processing, reconcile liabilities, and maintain records for audits.

You will collaborate with Finance and HR teams to reflect benefit elections, process adjustments, and assist with year-end activities, while upholding confidentiality and compliance across the organization.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 2 years payroll processing experience; preferably in a school, charter school, nonprofit, or government environment.
• Accounting experience including accounts payable/receivable or GL functions; payroll-related reporting preferred.
• Experience with Colorado PERA reporting is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Process accurate and timely monthly payroll in alignment with schedules.
• Review timesheets, leave balances, salary changes, deductions, and other compensation.
• Handle new hires, terminations, and employee changes affecting payroll.
• Reconcile payrolls and payroll liabilities; ensure timely payments.
• Maintain payroll records for compliance and audits; assist year-end tasks.
• Collaborate with HR on benefit elections and payroll reflections.
• Support accounts payable, receivable, and other accounting functions.
• Assist with monthly close and financial reporting.
