Job summary

MarginEdge Co. is seeking a Software Development Manager to scale our payments platform and expand the financial products we offer to restaurant clients. You will balance hands-on technical leadership with people management, ensuring secure, reliable software shipped to customers across the US and Canada.

You will partner with product and design, own the delivery strategy for your team, and coach engineers to grow while driving a high-performance culture and solid architectural decisions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in engineering management or tech lead roles.
• Proven track record of leading and growing engineering teams with delivery, quality, and culture.
• Experience building or operating payments/fintech systems (ACH money movement, card issuing, etc.).
• Strong backend/frontend development background (Spring Boot and/or React); comfortable in design reviews and code discussions.
• Experience in product-driven environments with cross-functional collaboration (product, design, QA).
• Ability to balance technical excellence with business goals and make trade-offs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to convey status and risks to stakeholders.
• Experience with cloud-based systems, distributed architectures, and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Own the delivery strategy for your team and facilitate collaboration between product, design, and engineering across payments products.
• Lead and develop your team, fostering a high-performance culture, removing obstacles, and encouraging responsible ownership.
• Ensure accountability for support and operations across payment systems, using data to address recurring pain points and coordinate necessary resources.
• Contribute to technical strategy and architectural decisions, balancing business needs, security/compliance, and software excellence.
