Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Monitoring Technician to provide continuous observation of patients from a central command center. You will work with nursing and hospital teams to maintain a safe, comfortable environment across the AHN network.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of patient care experience, and the ability to monitor multiple patients simultaneously. Strong computer skills, critical thinking, independent work, and HIPAA awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• High school / GED is required.
• 1 year of previous patient care experience.
• Capable of continuous monitoring of multiple patients.

Responsibilities

• Maintains visual observation at all times, monitoring patient behavior and movements using monitoring software. Recognizes behaviours that could harm patients and redirects them via in-room devices.
• Communicates needs to nursing staff based on patient needs; provides shift handoffs to virtual monitoring attendants and nursing staff.
• Informs floor staff promptly when a patient poses a threat; identifies safety hazards and coordinates with staff for intervention.
• Provides explanations to patients as necessary, maintaining dignity and privacy.
• Follows safety rules and participates in safety programs and training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
