Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Safety Technician to support patient safety by staying at the bedside, providing calming conversations, identifying hazards, and assisting with daily living activities as delegated by the supervising RN.

The role includes continuous safety observation through video monitoring, both at the bedside and remotely, with responsibilities to redirect risky behavior and to escalate to staff as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire required.

Responsibilities

• Remains at bedside of assigned patient at all times unless relieved by an appropriate staff member.
• Provides calming and reorienting conversation with patient in cases of agitation or confusion.
• Identifies and removes hazards from the patient’s environment and reports as appropriate.
• May assist with activities of daily living as delegated by supervising RN.
• Provides continuous safety observation via video monitoring for patients at risk.
• Remotely monitors multiple patients and escalates safety concerns to staff when needed.
