Job summary

Firstsource is seeking a Patient Advocate Specialist to remotely assist patients in resolving medical balances by identifying eligibility for state, county, and federal assistance programs and guiding them through the application process.

You will contact patients by telephone, screen for program eligibility, document details in the CUBS system, and coordinate with agencies and field staff to secure benefits while maintaining compliance and privacy.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma and related experience in customer service or call centers.
• Prefer prior exposure to medical coding or billing processes.
• Proficient PC skills and ability to type 30–40 wpm.

Responsibilities

• Screen patients for eligibility of State and Federal programs.
• Identify patient needs and assist with applications for assistance.
• Initiate the application process when possible.
• Advise patients on appropriate assistance programs.
• Provide instructions for securing program benefits.
• Record documentation in the CUBS system clearly and accurately.
• Maintain a positive relationship with patients throughout the process.
• Follow up on applications and deadlines with agencies as needed.
• Collaborate with outside staff when necessary.
