Job summary

Legal Aid Chicago is seeking a full-time paralegal to assist our Employment attorneys in the Immigrants & Workers’ Rights Practice Group. The role focuses on workers’ rights, including discrimination, wage theft, unemployment benefits, and related matters.

You will work with clients and attorneys, handling filings, intake, and case prep. This position offers a hybrid work environment in downtown Chicago with some travel to court or outreach events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred with strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work collaboratively and manage time effectively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; adaptability to new tech.

Responsibilities

• Provide litigation support: court filings, document collection, file maintenance.
• Assist with case assessment: obtain personnel files, pleadings, and documents.
• Conduct intake and interview clients to assess potential claims and remedies.
• Maintain case files and accurate timekeeping in the electronic system.
• Attend trainings and team meetings; help with outreach and referrals.
