Job summary

DaMar Staffing seeks a Physician Coder I to code outpatient records using ICD and CPT codes. The role involves ensuring accurate coding, issue escalation with providers when needed, and maintaining productivity within outpatient coding standards.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma or GED, with 1 year of outpatient coding experience preferred and certification options (RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCA or CPC/CPC-H) desirable. Remote work potential may be available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year outpatient coding experience preferred.
• At least one of RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCA or CPC/CPC-H certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assigns codes to diagnoses and procedures from outpatient records using ICD and CPT codes according to coding guidelines.
• Ensures codes are sequenced accurately to support proper reimbursement and payer requirements.
• Identify, research, and route accounts in coding/billing queues to ensure clean submissions.
• Query providers when documentation is insufficient or ambiguous to reflect accurate conditions or procedures.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards per outpatient coding policies.
• Utilize coding references and collaborate with supervision and clinic staff on documentation issues.
• Demonstrate ongoing professional development through coding workshops and CE credits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
