Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Medical Coder for the Surgical Coding area (OR/Endoscopy/Deliveries). This fully remote role offers a flexible schedule once trained and focuses on accurate coding from patient records to support reimbursement, research, and administrative decisions.

You will review and code diagnostic and procedural information, abstract data for research, ensure compliance with guidelines and policies, and promote accurate database information to optimize revenue.

Qualifications

• Must have a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems.
• Two+ years coding experience required.
• Specialty coding experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and code diagnostic and procedural information from patient medical records for reimbursement and billing purposes.
• Accurately abstract data from medical records to support research, patient care evaluation, and administrative decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, third-party reimbursement policies, regulations, and accreditation standards.
• Promote provider/patient continuity and accurate database information to optimize reimbursement.
