Job summary

OCHIN, Inc. is seeking an Outpatient Coding Specialist to join a fully remote team serving member clinics and hospitals nationwide. You will ensure compliant coding, extract clinical data, and optimize revenue cycle while collaborating with supervisors to resolve complex issues.

Required CPC/CCS/CDC certifications, Epic EHR experience preferred, and FQHC experience is a plus. The position offers flexible work setup and visibility across a national provider network.

Qualifications

• Certificate completion from AAPC CPC, AHIMA CCS or ADCA (CDC certificate) is REQUIRED.
• Epic EHR experience highly preferred.
• Experience with FQHCs highly desired. Candidates with FQHC experience will be given priority.

Responsibilities

• Accurate and compliant coding: Deliver efficient and accurate coding services on behalf of member clients, ensuring full compliance with payer requirements, organizational policies, and all applicable coding guidelines.
• Clinical data abstraction: Extract and interpret relevant clinical data—from diagnoses and procedures from patient records and EHRs—to support accurate code assignment.
• Code assignment and validation: Review and analyze patient encounters to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Reimbursement optimization: Support member organizations in achieving appropriate reimbursement by reviewing and recommending accurate code assignments.
• Provider communication and documentation follow-up: Conduct research and obtain additional information from providers or clinical staff as needed, following agreements.
• Other duties as assigned.
