Job summary

OCHIN, Inc. is seeking a Coding Specialist to deliver accurate healthcare coding services for member clinics and hospitals. The role focuses on identifying high-risk coding trends, optimizing revenue, and improving coding accuracy to support the revenue cycle.

Collaborate with supervisors to resolve complex issues and contribute to ongoing process improvements. This is a virtual home-office role requiring US work authorization.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hospital coding billing and / or coding revenue cycle experience in Epic is REQUIRED.
• 5 years of experience in hospital coding for inpatient, emergency, swing bed, and surgical coding is REQUIRED
• Prior to moving forward to the team interview, competency assessment will be completed to understand fit with OCHIN's nine core competencies.

Responsibilities

• Accurate and Compliant Coding: Deliver efficient and accurate coding services for member clients, ensuring full compliance with payer requirements and coding guidelines.
• Clinical Data Abstraction: Extract and interpret relevant clinical data from patient records to support code assignment.
• Code Assignment and Validation: Review encounters to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Reimbursement Optimization: Support eligible reimbursement by recommending accurate code assignments for payer claims.
• Provider Communication and Documentation Follow‑Up: Communicate with providers or clinical staff as needed to obtain additional information.
• Other duties as assigned.
