Singing River Health System is seeking an Outpatient Coding Specialist to evaluate medical records and charges for ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT accuracy within a compliant framework. You will abstract data, select codes, and query for medical necessity while upholding HIPAA guidelines.

The role also includes providing technical guidance and training on coding practices to physicians and staff, with potential remote work options within the region.

Qualificações

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Course work in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, ICD-9/10-CM coding, and/or CPT coding.
• One (1) year of healthcare-related or coding experience preferred.
• Certifications such as CPC, COC, CCS-P or equivalent coding certification are desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Evaluate medical records and charges to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT.
• Identify diagnosis codes and CPT procedures relative to the patient encounter; select principal diagnosis/procedure and other relevant codes.
• Abstract information from the medical record and query physicians for medical necessity when documentation is ambiguous.
• Provide technical guidance and training on medical coding to physicians and staff.
