Job summary

Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls, MN is seeking an Outpatient Coder to accurately code CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS for outpatient services with a 95% accuracy target and strong communication with medical staff.

The role offers hourly pay and a full-time schedule; remote work is available for Minnesota, North Dakota, or South Dakota residents, with on-site options as well. Ophthalmology coding experience is preferred and benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Associates, vocational degree, or bachelor’s in Health Information Management preferred.
• RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS-P and/or AHIMA/AAPC certification preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and outpatient coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS).
• Ophthalmology coding experience preferred.
• Proficient and professional communication, both verbal and written.
• Basic math and accounting skills.
• One or more years of related experience in medical coding.
• Proficient computer/keyboard skills.
• Must pass pre-employment health screening.
• Must be able to attend the work site per schedule.

Responsibilities

• Audit charge tickets for accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes according to third party requirements.
• Communicate with medical staff to obtain necessary information for accurate coding.
• Interpret medical record documentation to obtain information for accurate coding.
• Maintain knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS codes and coding updates.
• Perform miscellaneous office duties as time permits or as assigned by supervisor.
