Job summary

Cable One is seeking an OSP Designer II to design broadband plant extensions and produce construction-ready deliverables. The role collaborates with Technical Operations, Construction, and Engineering while following Cable One standards.

Remote work is possible for qualified candidates across multiple states. Ideal candidates have an AA degree with 5+ years in outside plant, GIS, or related fields, plus strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with related experience; outside plan design or GIS experience preferred.
• GIS software proficiency (ESRI) and Schneider design familiarity per Cable One standards.
• Understanding of cable design concepts and HFC/fiber symbology.
• Familiarity with outside plant equipment, design techniques, and telecom construction.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Strong problem-solving abilities and clear written/verbal communication.
• Ability to convey information effectively to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design new and existing HFC plant extensions.
• Perform base drafting and read walkout information.
• Update as-builts as construction is completed and release areas.
• Provide complete construction build packets with full design deliverables.
• Learn new software and adapt to new technology as required.
• Create fiber splicing matrices and Lightpath circuits.
• Assess fiber availability and reinforcement requirements.
• Design major plant upgrades and perform redesigns.
• Prioritize multiple projects with accuracy.
