Job summary

Cable One is seeking an OSP Designer II to create cost-effective broadband system designs while upholding Cable One standards. You will support CAD and GIS design work, interact with Technical Operations, Construction, and Engineering, and help maintain design/digitizing protocols.

The role supports remote work options for qualified candidates across the U.S. and requires experience in outside plant design and fiber/HFC knowledge.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent plus five years related experience; outside plan design, construction, or GIS experience preferred.
• Intermediate knowledge of GIS applications such as ESRI and Schneider design software following Cable One Standards and specifications.
• Intermediate understanding of cable design and HFC/Fiber symbology.
• Familiarity with telecom outside plant equipment, design, and construction techniques.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design new and existing HFC plant extensions.
• Perform base drafting.
• Read walkout information accurately.
• Update as-builts as construction completes and releases the area.
• Provide complete construction build packet with full design deliverables.
• Learn new software and adapt to new technology when required.
• Create fiber splicing matrices and Lightpath circuits.
• Assess fiber availability and reinforcement requirements.
• Design major plant upgrades and perform plant redesigns.
• Handle multiple projects with accuracy and prioritize work.
