Job summary

Akima Secure Technologies (AST) is seeking an experienced OSP Fiber Technician to support our Infrastructure Team. The role focuses on installing and maintaining fiber in underground and aerial deployments, including ABF and microduct systems.

The ideal candidate will perform fiber preparation, termination, fusion splicing, OTDR/OLTS testing, and field troubleshooting while following safety rules and project-specific requirements. Remote work setup may apply for certain locations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of OSP telecommunications experience.
• Experience installing fiber optic cable in aerial and/or underground environments.
• Ability to read and understand OSP construction drawings.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to obtain Secret security clearance.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Install fiber optic cable in underground OSP environments (manholes, handholes, direct burial).
• Splice fiber optic cable in underground OSP environments.
• Install ABF fiber through microduct systems using blowing and jetting methods.
• Install and route ABF microduct bundles through underground OSP environments.
• Splice ABF microduct bundles in underground OSP environments.
• Read and interpret OSP construction drawings, splice diagrams, and fiber route maps.
