Job summary

Aquila Corporation is seeking an experienced OSP Fiber Construction Technician to perform outside plant fiber construction across underground and aerial environments in Central Indiana. This field-based role involves directional drilling, plowing, fiber blowing, splicing, and aerial drops, with travel based on project needs.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on fiber construction experience, the ability to work independently with minimal training, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Hands-on experience in underground construction and related fiber work.
• Valid driver's license; CDL strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction prints, staking sheets, and aerial maps.

Responsibilities

• Perform underground and aerial OSP fiber construction: directional drilling, plowing, drop buries, cable placement, fiber blowing, splicing, and aerial drops.
• Operate construction equipment (drop-bury plows, directional drilling gear, fiber blowers) and related tools.
• Identify utilities before excavation and ensure safe bore-path execution.
• Read prints/maps and mark as-built conditions accurately.
• Maintain safety standards and communicate progress with supervisors and customers.
