Job summary

Merck seeks an Oncology Sales Representative to drive growth in the Richmond, VA area, engaging with customers, educating stakeholders, and achieving sales goals within the territory. Travel to visit customers and attend national meetings is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years of sales experience OR a minimum of high school diploma with at least 8 years of equivalent experience.
• Equivalent experience can be professional sales experience, work experience in healthcare/scientific field with oncology experience preferred (not sales related).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a vehicle.
• Travel the amount of time the role requires, including overnight travel 10 - 15%.
• Reside in or within a reasonable distance to the district.

Responsibilities

• Attain or exceed the assigned sales goals for the geography.
• Collaborate with territory counterparts to ensure seamless experience and build business relationships.
• Communicate a patient-centered rationale for Oncology products in indicated uses.
• Understand cancer staging, treatment options, pathways, and guidelines.
• Analyze trends in a complex buying environment across multiple distribution channels.
• Review patterns for products purchased and prescribed (outpatient vs inpatient).
• Develop and execute short- and long-term plans with the Oncology Customer Team Leader.
• Ask insightful questions to understand customer priorities and needs.
