Job summary

Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls, NY seeks an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS®) to analyze medical records and abstract coding for malignant and reportable conditions across the GFH system.

You will maintain the cancer registry per ACoS CoC standards, pursue ODS credentialing, and collaborate with physicians, ensuring timely, accurate registry data and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum Associates degree; Bachelor’s preferred for ODS credentialing.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years in related healthcare field or NCRA program practicum.
• Licenses/Registrations: Certified Oncology Data Specialist required; eligibility for ODS credential within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Abstracting using current coding and staging schemas; document thoroughly and enter data into registry software per timeliness guidelines.
• Follow-up through first course of treatment and document complete therapies.
• Case finding/Accessioning: determine eligibility for accessioning and prepare/abstract data for diagnosed/treatment patients.
• Cancer Program Support: maintain registry per ACoS CoC NYSCR GFH guidelines and support oncology cases conferences.
• Professional Development: obtain CEUs to maintain ODS credential and advance registry knowledge.
