Job summary

Omega Healthcare Management Services is seeking an Oncology Data Specialist to accurately report detailed information from the electronic medical record into registry software. The role ensures compliance with state, national, and client-specific data reporting and supports case finding, tumor board activities, and periodic reporting.

The candidate will abstract cancer cases daily, resolve data edits prior to state submissions, and maintain knowledge of ICD-O, AJCC, SEER standards, and registry

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cancer and its management, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, biostatistics and epidemiology.
• Experience with data abstraction and cancer registry procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily abstraction of cancer cases into the cancer registry database.
• Responsible for running and resolving EDIT’s prior to submission of cases to the State Central Registry and NCDB.
• Utilize CoC and State Cancer Registry data standards and coding instructions to determine all reportable cases.
• Abstract cases completely, whenever possible.
• Submit cases to the State Central Registry, if requested.
• Process case finding, follow-up and other registry duties.
