Job summary

LaSalle Network is partnering with a client to hire an Oncology Coder for a contract-to-hire, fully remote opportunity. You will ensure accurate ICD-CM and CPT-4 coding for complex surgical, procedural and E/M services, supporting clean claims and compliant reimbursement.

The role emphasizes productivity of 8–10 charts per hour, adherence to CMS/OIG/HCFA guidelines, and collaboration with providers to clarify documentation when needed.

Qualifications

• CPC certification required for role.
• Oncology coding experience required.
• Ability to meet productivity of ~8–10 charts per hour.
• Education: high school diploma/GED or equivalent with training or an Associate’s degree in related healthcare field.
• Proficiency in ICD-CM and CPT-4 coding, interpreting guidelines, including NCCI edits and LCDs.

Responsibilities

• Analyze medical records and code diagnoses and procedures per coding guidelines and reimbursement requirements.
• Assign ICD-CM and CPT-4 codes for appropriate APC assignment; address NCCI edits and charge reconciliation.
• Abstract codes and details from records into EMR; obtain missing information as needed.
• Consult with providers to resolve documentation gaps and determine codes.
• Provide QA to ensure compliance with CMS, OIG, HCFA, and professional standards.
• Compile daily/monthly reports and tabulate data for research/analysis.
• Identify edits and revision issues to support accurate coding and reimbursement.
