Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's OptumCare in Houston seeks a skilled coder to review and verify oncology codes across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will work with EMR reports, ensure compliance with CPT and Medicare rules, and collaborate with physicians and care teams to improve documentation and billing accuracy.

This remote role offers flexibility with occasional on-site meetings; pay ranges $20-$36 per hour for full-time work, with benefits, incentive programs, and 401(k) plans; prior EPIC

Qualifications

• CPC required within 6 months from date of hire.
• 2+ years of billing experience in a clinic or Physician Office setting.
• 1+ years of coding experience abstracting from clinical notes or dictations.
• Diversified understanding of CPT guidelines and Medicare rules and regulations.
• Solid understanding of Medical Terminology with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Position will be remote with occasional mandatory on-site meetings.

Responsibilities

• Review, interpret and verify diagnostic, clinical, and infusion codes for oncology providers and extenders based on clinical reports within the EMR system and according to correct coding principles, current CPT rules and LCD coverage determinations.
• Ensure proper codes on all claims prior to submission for all charges for the cancer center.
• Audit charges in both inpatient and outpatient settings to ensure compliance and charge capture.
• Liaise with physicians and clinical teams and provide feedback on documentation and coding and works within company standards to maintain policy and procedures.
• Meet coding and abstracting deadlines to expedite the billing and charge entry process and ensure best practices for the center is met.
• Cross coverage to include eligibility, authorization, and financial assistance.
