AAAS, via SciLine, is seeking an On-call Scientific Outreach Support Specialist to help connect journalists with scientific expertise on deadline. This remote, part-time role supports identifying and vetting experts for the Expert Matching service, with 17 hours per week and potential for flexible scheduling.

A Master’s or Ph.D. in a scientific field is preferred. Strong research, communication, and time-management skills are essential, along with a commitment to scientific rigor and DEI.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a scientific discipline.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; fluency in Spanish a plus.
• Strong research, data analysis, and time management skills.
• Ability to identify and recruit scientific experts on deadline.

Responsibilities

• Identify scientific experts from SciLine’s internal database or other sources, and vet their expertise for journalist referrals.
• Reach out to scientific experts to recruit them for interviews with same-day deadlines.
• Add to SciLine’s database of experts.
