Job summary

AAAS seeks a Part-Time Journalist Support Correspondent to join SciLine. This on-call role supports monitoring SciLine inbox and guiding reporters through our expert matching service, reporting to the senior scientific outreach manager.

Hours are negotiable up to 17 per week and the position is remote within states where AAAS has a business presence. The compensation is about $30 per hour with a contract from Nov 1, 2026 to May 31, 2028.

Qualifications

• Some experience in journalism or media relations.
• Ability to communicate quickly, succinctly, and clearly.
• Effective decision-making skills, especially on tight timelines.
• Experience with science or enthusiasm about science is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and respond to journalist inquiries during duty hours.
• Coordinate with scientist-facing team to follow up on inquiries.
• Enter data into SciLine’s Salesforce database.
• Coordinate with inbox team to ensure smooth shift operations.
• Raise questions about irregular inquiries for the team.
