Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced On-Call Paleontologist to join the U.S. West Rockies Environmental Planning and Permitting team. This remote, part-time, on-call role requires candidates to be located in the Western US and able to travel for fieldwork.

Duties include paleontological fieldwork, taxonomic identification of fossils, and field monitoring. Strong writing and data management skills are essential, and applicants must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and US citizenship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in paleontology or related field such as geology or biology.
• 2 years of relevant paleontological fieldwork experience.
• Outdoor activity may involve walking/trekking in uneven terrain.
• Valid U.S driver's license is required and must be able to travel to job sites.
• US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct paleontological fieldwork in the Western US.
• Provide taxonomic identification of vertebrate/invertebrate fossils to genus or species level.
• Lead field monitoring operations and ensure safety and accuracy.
• Prepare concise technical reports and manage project data.
• Travel to field sites across the Western US as needed.
