Job summary

State of Michigan is seeking an Occupational Safety Advisor to perform professional safety assignments across a defined Michigan field area, with work conducted from a home office and travel to Allegan, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Berrien, Cass, and Saint Joseph counties.

Responsibilities include reviewing work practices, advising employers on safety program implementations, conducting hazard assessments, and developing MTI safety training curricula.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher is required.
• Bachelor's degree in any field is acceptable.
• Experience in safety compliance and inspections is preferred.
• Professional safety credentials are desirable (e.g., CSP or CIH).

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate work practices, equipment, and safety programs to assess worker protection.
• Provide advice to employers on implementing safety programs and best practices.
• Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions to reduce risks.
• Develop, organize, and conduct safety training for the MIOSHA Training Institute (MTI).
