Job summary

Michigan Millers Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a Loss Control Consultant to conduct surveys, assess risks, and develop service plans for larger accounts. This remote, work-from-home role requires periodic overnight travel to Lansing, MI and Edina, MN.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s in safety-related field, plus CSP/ARM/CRM/OHST/CHST certifications, strong communication, and the ability to build solid relationships with underwriters, agents, and insureds.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
• Ability to multitask and solve problems.
• Strong time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Excellent negotiation and relationship-building.
• Analytical risk evaluation and judgment.
• Travel up to 20% overnight (air/train).
• Ability to navigate varied work environments and lift up to 30 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Builds and maintains strong underwriter and agency relationships.
• Manages loss control assignments to improve risk and account service.
• Uses loss control practices to analyze operations and exposures.
• Identifies risk improvement opportunities and safety enhancements.
• Applies OSHA, NFPA, and DOT standards in field work.
• Prepares with research tools for loss control surveys across businesses.
• Evaluates lines of business using standard loss control tools.
• Supports underwriting decisions with risk evaluations.
• Communicates effectively with stakeholders and demonstrates empathy.
• Travels to conduct loss control surveys at diverse sites.
