Job summary

Flexion Inc., a Madison, WI based IT Consulting and Services firm, is seeking an Automation/Monitoring Engineer for a long-term consulting project. This role focuses on enterprise monitoring across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments with Java, JavaScript, and Python.

You will work with the Observability Team to implement monitoring strategies using AWS, GCP, Datadog, Dynatrace, and ServiceNow, and develop automation, remediation workflows, and tooling documentation for automated processes.

Qualifications

• At least three years of web application development experience.
• At least three years of Service coding / message framework experience (SOAP / REST).
• Experience with Datadog API, Dynatrace API, ServiceNow API, ELK, and other industry standard monitoring platforms.
• Strong experience in Python, Java, JavaScript and other programming languages.
• Strong experience with cloud (AWS, GCP) deployment scripting (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
• Working knowledge of application monitoring best practices.
• Experience with multiple operating systems such as Unix, Linux, Windows, and/or VMware, EC2, ECS, Containers, and Lambda functionality.
• Experience with application performance management technologies: server and application (real and synthetic) monitoring components.
• Strong experience integrating Observability tools with ServiceNow, GitLab, Ansible, and other platforms.
• Synthetic monitoring tools including browser-based testing and load generators.
• Infrastructure monitoring tools: client, server, network, logs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automation in Java, JavaScript, and Python (including API calls to applications and load balancers).
• Develop and maintain automation within Confluence.
• Develop automated remediation workflows (ServiceNow, API, etc.).
• Support application monitoring for .Net, Java, SaaS, AWS, and other architectures via API calls.
• Understand PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS and best practices for monitoring each.
• Understand log analytics monitoring with ELK and/or Splunk for migration to Datadog.
• Provide deep visibility into on-prem, cloud and hybrid applications performance.
• Support ongoing Datadog configurations and platform implementation via API.
• Implement application monitoring, synthetic and real user monitoring solutions following best practices across the enterprise.
• Collaborate with Business and Technology to design and implement performance benchmarks for each application.
