Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Monitoring and Observability Engineer to design, build, and operate telemetry, monitoring, and alerting for an enterprise AWS/GovCloud platform within a FedRAMP boundary. This remote role reports to the Senior SRE/Observability Lead and emphasizes instrumentation, dashboards, alert quality, and pipeline reliability.

You will collaborate with platform engineering and the SRE team to ensure consistent instrumentation, actionable alerts, and data-driven incident response

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• 4+ years hands-on observability, monitoring, and alerting.
• Experience with Dynatrace, Datadog, and Splunk instrumentation and dashboards.
• OpenTelemetry-based instrumentation experience.
• Experience operating in AWS and GovCloud; cloud-native workloads.
• Experience with Ansible/Tower/AAP for automated deployments.
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD (and Jenkins) for pipelines.
• Proficient in Python, Bash, or Go scripting.

Responsibilities

• Build end-to-end telemetry pipelines across Dynatrace, Datadog, and Splunk.
• Instrument apps and infra for metrics, logs, and traces using OpenTelemetry.
• Design observability for distributed AWS/GovCloud workloads.
• Build dashboards and correlation across metrics, events, logs, traces.
• Monitor observability platforms and resolve collector/agent issues.
