Zusammenfassung

UCSF Health is seeking a Patient Record Abstractor for a fully remote, 3-month contract. The role involves coding diagnoses and procedures using CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS across UCSF physician practices, ensuring accurate reimbursement and high-quality data.

You will work with clinicians and billing staff, maintain coding currency, participate in audits, and contribute to process improvements in the Faculty Practice Revenue Management Operations department.

Qualifikationen

• 2-5 years revenue cycle professional fee coding experience or equivalent training.
• Strong communication skills to convey complex clinical finance information clearly.
• Ability to prepare informative reports and presentations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to evaluate workflows and systems.
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration on complex projects with diverse teams.
• Ability to pass UCSF Medical Center computer systems and coding/billing applications training.
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 coding conventions, and clinical documentation requirements.
• Prior healthcare-related experience.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and commercial carrier coding/billing standards.
• One of the following certifications (CPC, CCS-P, CCA, CCS, RHIT, RHIA).
• OBGYN coding and inpatient coding experience.

Aufgaben

• Process moderate revenue cycle work queues daily as defined by UCSF leadership.
• Maintain or exceed 95% accuracy rate in coding tasks.
• Resolve claims manager and Epic edits to ensure correct coding.
• Audit data input and support revenue cycle management.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff on documentation changes and updates.
• Review queues and respond to payor inquiries requiring department review.
