Job summary

ruby-labs is seeking a mid-level frontend and full-stack engineer to own features end-to-end for a consumer subscription product. You’ll work in a typed TypeScript monorepo spanning Next.js App Router client, a Fastify/Payload API backed by PostgreSQL, and Cloudflare Workers.

You’ll ship features with feature flags, be responsible for testing, security, and performance, and contribute to monitoring and alerts in a highly autonomous, sprint-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of commercial React experience.
• Experience with Next.js App Router and TypeScript.
• Node.js backend with Fastify, Nest, or Express and PostgreSQL.
• Familiar with TanStack Query, Zustand, React Hook Form with Zod, Tailwind CSS, and a component library.
• Experience with a code-first headless CMS like Payload, Strapi, or Directus.
• Testing discipline with Playwright or Cypress and Vitest or Jest.
• English at B1 or above.

Responsibilities

• Build features across the Next.js frontend and Fastify+Payload backend.
• Ship changes behind feature flags and A/B experiments with localization.
• Integrate third-party providers via REST APIs and webhooks.
• Implement unit, integration, and end-to-end tests and perform self-reviews.
• Diagnose bugs, optimize rendering, queries, and bundle size.
• Apply secure development practices and structured logging, metrics, and alerts.
• Break down, estimate, and deliver tasks within sprints with risk communication.
