Job summary

Ruby Labs Ltd is seeking a disciplined Middle Next.js Developer to build and ship features for a core D2C subscription product. You will own features end-to-end in a TypeScript monorepo, including a Next.js App Router client, Fastify + Payload CMS API on PostgreSQL, and Cloudflare Workers at the edge.

The role requires autonomy, quality-focused development, and collaboration across security, observability, and product teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of commercial React experience with Next.js (App Router, Server Components, route handlers, caching).
• Node.js backend with PostgreSQL and REST API design; auth and security fundamentals.
• Experience with TanStack Query, Zustand, Tailwind, React Hook Form + Zod, and a component library.
• Experience with a code-first headless CMS on PostgreSQL (Payload, Strapi, Directus).
• Testing: e2e (Cypress/Playwright) and unit/integration (Vitest/Jest); CI workflows.
• Daily use of AI tools for project context, with ownership of code quality and security.
• English: B1+.

Responsibilities

• Build features across Next.js client and Fastify + Payload CMS backend per product requirements.
• Follow feature-sliced design, conventions, and import rules.
• Ship changes behind feature flags and A/B tests, localized for all locales.
• Integrate third-party providers via REST APIs and webhooks.
• Write tests and ensure code quality through self-review and peer reviews.
• Optimize performance: rendering, caching, database queries, bundle size.
• Apply secure development practices and observability with logging, metrics, and alerts.
• Break down, estimate, and own tasks end-to-end within sprints.
