Job summary

Ashburn Consulting is seeking a Network Engineer to support a client transition from a legacy Juniper MPLS network to a cloud-based zero trust architecture. You will maintain the existing Juniper backbone while guiding cutover to Zscaler, working across cross‑functional teams with strong communication.

The role is primarily remote with limited travel, requires 5+ years in network engineering, and a background in government or enterprise networks.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on network engineering experience.
  • Experience with Juniper MPLS networks.
  • Experience migrating to zero-trust cloud-based networks (Zscaler, Netskope, Cloudflare or similar).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to coordinate across stakeholders.
  • Must be able to pass background check and US citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the existing Juniper MPLS network.
  • Support migration from MPLS/legacy WAN to zero-trust cloud-based network.
  • Develop migration runbooks, site cutover plans, rollback procedures.
  • Coordinate migration schedules with client stakeholders and internal teams.
  • Validate connectivity, security policy enforcement, and application accessibility pre- and post-migration.
  • Document network architecture changes and lessons learned.
  • Lead or participate in migration coordination calls and status briefings.
