Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is seeking a Lead Developer to design, develop, test, and deploy secure, scalable applications in a collaborative Agile/Scrum environment. You will translate user stories into technical solutions and mentor peers while driving performance and reliability across complex business processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree or completion of a Computer Science program from a Technical Trade School preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of application development experience with knowledge of at least one programming language.
• Ability to translate user specifications into written code.
• Knowledge of data access methods to create, read, update, and delete data.
• Awareness of industry architecture and SDLC.
• Familiarity with versioning tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy robust, scalable, and secure application solutions to support complex business requirements.
• Interpret user stories and business needs into technical specifications and actionable development tasks.
• Enhance, refactor, and maintain existing applications with focus on performance, stability, and scalability.
• Work collaboratively with product owners, business analysts, QA engineers, and developers in an Agile/Scrum team.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in debugging and resolving complex application issues and performance bottlenecks.
• Ensure high-quality code through unit testing and peer reviews.
• Contribute to architectural and design decisions based on experience and best practices.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date technical documentation.
