Job summary

Susan G. Komen is seeking a senior Advisor, Strategic Philanthropy to manage a national portfolio of major gift donors and drive leadership-level gifts across regions.

This role emphasizes donor relationship management, tailored cultivation, and high-touch engagement to maximize revenue. You will collaborate with Donor Experience Officers and senior leadership to deliver donor-centered experiences while advancing Komen’s mission through multi-year commitments and tax-aware gifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE certification strongly preferred.
• 7–10+ years of frontline fundraising experience with a strong track record in major gifts.
• Proven success managing major gift portfolios generating $1M+ annually.
• Experience closing multi-year commitments and cultivating planned and tax-smart gifts.
• Proven experience closing six and seven figure gifts.
• Experience in a national fundraising organization or matrixed structure.
• Proficiency with Salesforce or comparable donor management systems.
• Tech fluency with MS Office and CRMs; strong documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a national portfolio of major gift donors and prospects with annual revenue up to $1M+.
• Build long-term philanthropic relationships to drive donor retention and upgrades.
• Develop tailored discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
• Secure major gifts, multi-year commitments, and tax-smart gifts.
• Maintain high-touch donor engagement across channels (in-person, video, phone, written).
• Coordinate with local market teams to align donor experiences across regions.
• Represent Komen at donor meetings, cultivation events, and stewardship engagements.
• Document donor activity and portfolio progress in Salesforce and fundraising tools.
• Use analytics to inform prioritization and cultivation strategy.
• Identify opportunities for recurring and multi-year commitments.
