Job summary

NCFE is seeking Moderators for its External Quality Assurance team on a flexible worker contract. The role focuses on Level 1/2 Technical Award in Music Technology and ensuring fair, accurate, and consistent centre assessments.

Ideal candidates will have a Level 3+ qualification in music technology, hands-on teaching or assessment experience, and a strong grasp of QA processes. The position is remote with moderation windows from March to August 2027 and standardisation meetings as required.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification at Level 3 or above in music technology or a closely related subject area.
• Current or recent occupational experience working within the music technology sector.
• Experience of teaching, assessing, internal quality assuring and/or moderating vocational or academic qualifications.
• Strong knowledge of assessment and quality assurance processes.
• Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• A commitment to maintaining high standards and delivering a positive experience for centres.

Responsibilities

• Conduct moderation activities in line with awarding organisation and regulatory requirements.
• Attend standardisation and team meetings as required.
• Review centre marking to ensure assessment decisions are accurate, consistent and meet required standards.
• Produce clear, accurate and timely moderation reports within agreed SLAs.
• Plan and manage moderation activity for allocated centres in line with sampling strategies and quality assurance requirements.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying areas for development and sharing best practice.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the qualification, assessment requirements and your subject-specialist area.
