Job summary

NCFE is seeking Moderators for the External Quality Assurance team on a flexible remote contract. You will review centre-marked work for the Level 1/2 Technical Award in Engineering, apply quality assurance principles, and provide constructive feedback to uphold national standards.

We value engineering/design tech experience, teaching or assessing learners, and strong written communication. Moderation activities begin March 2027 with a main window April–August 2027; training is provided, and you

Qualifications

Strong engineering or design technology background.
Experience teaching, assessing or moderating vocational qualifications.
Excellent written communication and report writing.
Good organisational and time-management skills; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

Conduct moderation activities in line with awarding organisations and regulatory requirements.
Attend standardisation and team meetings as required.
Review centre marking to ensure accurate and consistent assessment decisions.
Produce clear, accurate moderation reports within SLAs.
Plan and manage moderation activity for allocated centres following sampling strategies.
Support continuous improvement by sharing best practice and identifying development areas.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the qualification and assessment requirements.
