Job summary

OHSU is seeking a Level III Professional Fee Coder – Multispecialty Surgery to support telecommuting coding across General Surgery, Plastics, Dental, GI, and Trauma. The role emphasizes accuracy, CMS/payor compliance, and collaboration with leadership and clinicians.

The successful candidate will have 4+ years of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding experience, active AAPC/AHIMA credentials, and ongoing professional development in coding standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience coding hospital or professional services using ICD-10-CM and CPT.
• Active coding certification through AAPC (CPC) or AHIMA (RHIA/RHIT/CCS) or equivalent.
• Active membership in AAPC or AHIMA.
• Successful completion of an internal coding skills assessment.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation for accuracy and CMS/payor compliance using CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes.
• Assign accurate professional fee codes for a range of procedures and services across multispecialty surgery.
• Code across General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Dental, GI, and Trauma.
• Maintain billing and coding workflows for assigned queues.
• Ensure data accuracy and regulatory compliance of coded entries.
• Monitor coding activities for alignment with regulations and policies.
• Collaborate with leadership to resolve coding questions and improve processes.
• Develop and maintain procedures supporting coding quality and staff education.
