Job summary

Fifth Third Bank, National Association, is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to manage the residential loan lifecycle from application to closing for outside referrals. You will develop referral contacts, maintain product and policy knowledge, and manage the pipeline while delivering excellent customer service.

Location is virtual within California; compensation is incentive-based with a base salary or draw.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines.
• Experience with residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
• Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
• Demonstrated organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Demonstrated teamwork and customer service skills.
• Proven computer skills.
• Basic sales technique skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop referral contacts with realtors, builders, and professional/personal networks.
• Maintain knowledge of Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting guidelines.
• Follow defined protocol for escalation exceptions.
• Take applicant applications by completing Fannie Mae form 1003 on the laptop.
• Utilize the laptop for communication and access of daily rates, credit reports, and Loan Prospector responses.
• Transmit the loan to LOMAS and collect documentation from applicants.
• Manage pipeline for all originated loans through closing and complete reports.
• Provide timely updates and progress reports to branches and applicants.
• Attend and participate in Consumer Lending meetings as required.
