Job summary

IBM Consulting is seeking a Managing Consultant ML/AI Engineer to own an end-to-end workstream, turning ambiguous needs into concrete designs and delivering with minimal guidance. You will shape architecture, ensure quality, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with business stakeholders to drive measurable results.

You will leverage modern AI tooling and maintainable software practices, translating insights into actionable recommendations across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
• Strong software engineering with maintainable, well-architected solutions.
• End-to-end ML/AI delivery from problem to deployed solution.
• Ability to frame problems, weigh trade-offs, and decide under ambiguity.
• Experience mentoring or reviewing others' work.
• Excellent communication to bridge business and technology.

Responsibilities

• Own a workstream: translate an ambiguous business need into a concrete technical approach and defend design decisions.
• Design for maintainability: define tests, validation, and checks to guarantee quality.
• Design AI-accelerated workflows: set up AI/LLM tooling where appropriate.
• Mentor 1–2 junior engineers: review their work and unblock them.
• Engage stakeholders: gather requirements and report progress.
• Interpret data and communicate results: provide actionable insights.
