Job summary

IBM Consulting is seeking a Managing Consultant ML/AI Engineer to own end-to-end workstreams, translating ambiguous business needs into concrete AI-enabled designs and plans. You will lead architecture decisions, ensure maintainability, and mentor junior engineers while engaging business stakeholders to drive impactful ML initiatives.

You will decide where AI tooling fits within workflows and communicate results clearly, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions across client engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required in a relevant field.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Strong software engineering with testing/validation discipline.
• Experience delivering ML/AI solutions from problem to deployment.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and engage stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own a workstream: translate a business need into a technical approach and defend implementation.
• Design for maintainability with defined tests and validation.
• Design AI-accelerated workflows and integrate AI/LLM tools where appropriate.
• Mentor 1–2 junior engineers and guide their work.
• Engage stakeholders to gather requirements and report progress.
• Interpret data and communicate results with actionable insights.
