Job summary

BYU Pathway invites applications for a part-time Teacher in our Training Department. The role supports missionaries by providing instruction, coaching, and curriculum-based lessons in various settings, including one-on-one, small groups, and large workshops.

Training may include language skills and gospel instruction, and staff may participate in pilots and initiatives. Responsibilities include planning lessons with a partner, monitoring learner progress, and collaborating with mission

Qualifications

• Must be a returned missionary no longer than 3 years.
• Fluency in specified second language for language teaching positions.
• Outstanding coaching, facilitation, and training skills.
• Knowledge of Preach My Gospel.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction, direction, counsel, and feedback to missionaries in various training settings: one-on-one coaching, small group facilitation, large group workshops, and monitoring Canvas participation and discussion boards.
• Plans and prepares lessons following approved curriculum in coordination with a companion teacher to meet missionary’s needs.
• Directs missionaries in planning and accounting for their learning.
• Implements direction and training from the Teacher Trainer/Supervisor, Manager of Training, and Senior Manager of Training.
• Attends weekly training meetings and participates in co-teacher meetings.
• Assists area leadership in coordinating with mission and Missionary Department leadership, as requested.
• Reports on needs and progress of assigned tasks to leadership.
• Coaches missionaries in preparation for and during practice and live lessons.
• May be asked to assist in assessing the proficiency level of missionaries and teacher applicants in the target language.
• May take on additional responsibilities as an Actor to role-play as a non-member interested in learning about The Church of Jesus Christ
• May take on additional responsibilities as a Training Area Assistant, as hours allow
• May include other temporary assigned duties at the MTC (e.g. assisting with Mission Leadership Seminar)
