Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Microsoft Information Protection Engineer to design, implement, and optimize enterprise DLP and labeling programs. The role emphasizes protecting sensitive agency data while enabling secure collaboration across large Microsoft 365 environments.

The ideal candidate will bring ~5 years of hands-on experience with DLP, Purview, and sensitivity labels, plus strong documentation and stakeholder engagement skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years (or commensurate experience) in related field.
• Approximately 5 years of experience implementing and supporting Microsoft Information Protection technologies.
• Experience administering Microsoft Purview DLP and Information Protection, including sensitivity labels.
• Experience supporting CUI or similar information classification programs.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize Purview DLP policies across Microsoft 365 services.
• Develop and tune DLP controls to protect sensitive organizational data.
• Analyze Copilot security impacts and recommend protection enhancements.
• Support DLP deployment for new applications and platforms.
• Perform policy testing, validation, and user acceptance before production.
• Investigate and resolve DLP incidents and alerts.
• Review DLP policies for ongoing effectiveness and compliance.
• Collaborate with security, compliance, and business stakeholders to define DLP requirements.
• Administer and enhance Purview Information Protection and Sensitivity Labels programs.
• Design labeling taxonomies supporting CUI and data classification requirements.
• Develop labeling strategies to improve data visibility and protection.
• Evaluate new Information Protection features for deployment suitability.
• Support automated and manual document classification at scale.
• Integrate sensitivity labels with DLP and other security controls.
• Assist with SharePoint Online labeling implementations.
