Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Data Scientist to join its analytics division in a fully remote capacity. You will develop ML models, build predictive systems for equipment and operations, and collaborate with geologists, engineers, and managers to turn data into actionable insights.

Applicants should have a Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field, 6+ years of experience, and proficiency in Python or R, with tools like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist with a strong focus on applied analytics and machine learning.
• Proficiency in Python or R and related libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy machine learning models and statistical analyses to extract valuable insights from mining operational data.
• Build predictive models for equipment failure, production optimization, resource forecasting, and safety risk assessment.
• Design and implement data pipelines for collecting, cleaning, and transforming large datasets.
• Collaborate with domain experts, geologists, engineers, and operations managers to identify data-driven solutions.
• Visualize and communicate analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements through data analysis and experimentation.
• Stay updated with advancements in data science, ML, and big data technologies.
• Contribute to data governance and best practices within the organization.
• Design and execute A/B tests and other experiments to validate hypotheses.
• Develop dashboards and reports to monitor KPIs and operational trends.
