Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Migration Engineer for GitLab Dedicated to plan and deliver migrations from self-managed GitLab to GitLab Dedicated. You’ll use GitLab Geo to replicate data and guide customers through cutover with minimal disruption.

You’ll design runbooks, automation with Terraform and Ansible, work with Kubernetes, and share insights with Product and Engineering to improve delivery, tooling, and repeatability.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering customer-facing migrations, installations, or advisory engagements.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform/Ansible.
• Hands-on Kubernetes in production environments, including deployments and debugging.
• Experience with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and network design knowledge.
• Familiarity with Go, Python, or Ruby for tooling workflows.

Responsibilities

• Deliver customer migrations from initial assessment through planning, replication, cutover, and validation.
• Use GitLab Geo to replicate data, debug synchronization issues, and keep migrations on track.
• Design network connectivity within GitLab Dedicated constraints and configure IaC tooling.
• Improve migration tooling, scripts, and runbooks for reliability and repeatability.
• Collaborate with Professional Services, Environment Automation, Product, and Engineering to resolve blockers.
• Manage multiple customer engagements and share knowledge with the team.
