Job summary

GitLab Inc. is seeking a Migration Engineer for GitLab Dedicated to partner with customers to plan and deliver migrations from self-managed GitLab to GitLab Dedicated.

You will use GitLab Geo to replicate data and guide customers through cutovers with minimal disruption. You will apply infrastructure as code, Kubernetes, Terraform, and cloud platform knowledge to design repeatable migrations, improve tooling, and ensure successful delivery across multiple engagements in a remote, asynchronous

Qualifications

• Experience delivering customer-facing migration, installation, training, or technical advisory engagements.
• Experience with GitLab, Git, and source control workflows.
• Experience with infrastructure as code or configuration as code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, or Chef.
• Hands-on experience running Kubernetes workloads in production, including deployments and debugging.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and network design knowledge.
• Ability to read, modify infrastructure tooling in Go, Python, or Ruby.
• Ability to lead multiple customer projects and communicate clearly in English.

Responsibilities

• Deliver customer migrations from initial assessment through planning, replication, cutover, and validation.
• Use GitLab Geo to replicate data, debug issues, and keep migrations on track.
• Design network connectivity within GitLab Dedicated constraints, including VPCs and firewall rules.
• Apply infrastructure as code practices to validate environments.
• Advise customers on sequencing, cutover windows, and integration requirements.
• Improve migration tooling and runbooks for reliable delivery.
• Collaborate with Sales, Professional Services, Product, and Engineering to resolve blockers.
• Manage multiple engagements while balancing outcomes and knowledge sharing.
