LAC Federal seeks an experienced Cataloging and Metadata Librarian to support a major federal research library in a fully remote, part-time capacity. You will perform advanced cataloging and metadata for technical reports, archival materials, digital objects, museum materials, and publications, maintaining the integrity of 130,000+ bibliographic records.

Ideal candidates bring strong MARC, RDA, authority control, and Ex Libris Alma expertise, with a collaborative approach to federal research

Qualifications

• MLS degree from an accredited institution or equivalent library experience.
• At least 5 years of metadata and technical services experience.
• Demonstrated experience with Ex Libris Alma ILS.
• Ability to apply cataloging rules and standards (RDA, BibFrame, AACR2, LCSH, LCNAF).
• Experience with MARC21, XML, MARCXML formats.
• Experience with cataloging tools and authority files such as OCLC Records Manager and Connexion.

Responsibilities

• Perform original and complex cataloging using MARC21 for technical reports, archival materials, government publications, and other resources.
• Perform copy cataloging using established metadata standards and authority records.
• Create, edit, and maintain bibliographic and holdings records within Ex Libris Alma.
• Apply current cataloging standards including RDA, AACR2, BIBFRAME, LCSH, and LCNAF.
• Catalog museum objects, photographs, archival materials, and historical resources.
• Prepare digital publications, images, and metadata for ingestion into digital repositories.
• Conduct quality control reviews of bibliographic records and metadata.
• Support maintenance of the library's integrated library system and metadata environment.
• Assist with metadata cleanup and project work as assigned.
• Collaborate with staff to prioritize work and meet objectives.
• Prepare monthly progress reports.
• Follow federal library policies and quality assurance procedures.
